The Opportunity
Shape Something Different - As Senior Legal Counsel - Technology and Commercial, you will be a key strategic advisor at the intersection of digital, technology and indirect procurement. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, Technology, Commercial and Data Law, you will guide global teams on IT, commercial and data law matters, support the development and commercialization of digital solutions, and enable risk-aware decisions that keep WSP at the forefront of innovation.

Your Impact

  • Act as a primary point of contact for IT, commercial and data law matters, providing timely, risk-based, pragmatic legal advice.
  • Partner closely with the global digital team to support the design, development and commercialization of WSP's digital solutions.
  • Advise on legal risks associated with digital services used internally and delivered to clients, and support the implementation of practical risk mitigation strategies.
  • Draft, review and negotiate (and/or oversee internal and external counsel) agreements with technology partners, clients and global suppliers.
  • Support the Indirect Procurement team with endtoend legal guidance on complex global agreements across IT and nonIT categories.
  • Develop, review and implement standard terms, templates, playbooks and guidance that drive consistency and enable selfserve contracting.
  • Advise on compliance requirements (including "compliance by design") for digital solutions and global services, in collaboration with Procurement, IT, Information Security, Marketing & Communications, and Ethics & Compliance.
  • Contribute to the implementation of contract lifecycle management tools for indirect procurement, including workflows, SOPs and review processes.
  • Support corporate governance, policy development, IP protection and training initiatives related to technology, commercial and data law.


The Skills That Set You Apart

  • You are a qualified lawyer in Québec or another relevant jurisdiction, with a strong foundation in commercial IT law.
  • You bring a minimum of 10 years' experience practicing law, with significant exposure to technology, commercial and procurement work.


  • You adopt a riskbased, commercial and pragmatic approach to legal advice, balancing protection with enabling the business.
  • You have strong drafting and analytical skills, and are comfortable navigating complex, highstakes negotiations.
  • You are confident working in ambiguity, selfmotivated, and able to operate with limited supervision while meeting tight deadlines.
  • You build strong relationships and can engage, persuade and influence a wide range of stakeholders and business functions at all levels.
  • You are motivated by building processes, improving operations and enabling scale through smart templates, guidance and tooling.
  • Linguistic requirements: Bilingual (English and French) as the hired individual will collaborate with stakeholders at a national level.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $162,200 - $212,200
MB & ON: $148,000 - $198,000
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $146,500 - $194,600
