We are looking for a senior geotechnical or civil engineer with experience in the design of tailings storage facility (TSF) dikes/dams to join our team in Montréal, Québec.
The person we are seeking must have strong knowledge of mining projects and extensive experience in geotechnical engineering or construction in the fields of mining, tailings, and dams.
They must be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) and have significant experience in the geotechnical aspects of dam design and dam safety assessments. We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented individual who will be able to apply their knowledge and experience in this role.

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented individual who will be able to apply their knowledge and experience in this role.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide technical analyses, designs, and reports for mining-related projects: tailings storage facility dikes/dams, water management systems, waste rock piles, open-pit mines, etc.
- Perform design and analysis functions, including stability, seepage, and settlement analyses (GeoStudio: SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, SIGMA/W).
- Conduct dam safety inspections, dam safety reviews, dam safety assessments, and risk assessments.
- Carry out technical writing and review service proposals and project documents submitted to clients.
- Prepare plans and specifications, from feasibility studies to detailed design and construction.
- Develop technical specifications, including preparation of quantity takeoffs.
- Prepare technical reports and coordinate support activities.
- Review findings and formulate recommendations.
- Work as a fully integrated member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Build relationships with other technical teams, including hydrogeology, hydrology, geochemistry, rock mechanics, and environmental teams.
- Provide quality leadership and mentorship to junior engineers-in-training and technicians.
- Manage contractors and subcontractors.
- Manage projects in remote areas.
Skills and Qualifications
- Degree from an accredited university in geotechnical, civil, mining, or geological engineering.
- At least ten (10) years of experience in civil or geotechnical engineering, or related experience in design or construction of embankment dams/dikes, largely gained through mining projects involving dam work.
- Registered as an engineer with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
- Experience in the design and construction of tailings storage facility dikes and related earthworks on mine sites.
- Experience with design work incorporating principles from various regulatory bodies, including the Canadian Dam Association (CDA), Directive 019, the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM), etc.
- Experience managing multiple mining or construction-related projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting and cost forecasting.
- Ability to travel within Canada or internationally, as required.
- Ability to work in a bilingual (French and English) environment.
- Eligible to work in Canada.
- Possession of a valid driver's licence.
- ASP Construction certification required.
- BC, AB, SK, NWT & NU: $135,200 - $179,100
- MB & ON: $123,300 - $169,800
- Atlantic Provinces & Québec: $122,100 - $162,200
