Our Property Tax group, within the Indirect Tax practice, is a leader in the global commercial real estate (CRE) industry. Our dedicated team focuses on helping clients optimize cash flow and mitigate risk by addressing the intricacies of property assessment and taxation. You will play a key role in supporting our clients in relation to both regional and national projects, as well as value-added tax projects associated with property assessment and taxation. Your expertise will be called upon to critically review and evaluate property tax appeal positions, offering informed recommendations and adeptly managing the appeal process in accordance with the firm's rigorous policies, standards, and guidelines.
Meaningful work y ou'll be part of
As a Property Tax Senior Associate , you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex property tax issues from strategy to execution. You will provide strategic advice on local property assessment and tax affairs. Your expertise will be crucial in performing assessment valuation analysis, preparing comprehensive reports, and navigating assessment reviews and appeals.
• Calculate refunds, budgets, projections and participate in ad-hoc tax advisory projction projects
• Assist the team in building internal SOPs and navigate firm requirements; focusing on engagement contracts, Salesforce, and billing
• Innovative problem-solving: Apply innovative thi n king to solve complex property tax challenges, adding value to client engagements
Experience and skills you'll use to solve
• T ax Experience: Prior experience in property tax or CRE valuation, either in the public or private sector, is an asset
• A post-secondary degree (or equivalent work experience) in real property valuation, property assessment, real estate, urban studies, economics, finance, or law is essential
• Completion of a Real Property Assessment Certificate or equivalent professional designation is valued. Recognized credentials include (but are not limited to): MIMA, AACI, CAE, MRICS, or FRICS
• Technology proficiency : familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat), and advanced Excel skills
• Analytical skills: candidates must possess strong attention to detail and the ability to conduct both quantitative and qualitative analysis
• Teamwork and collaboration: ability to work well in a team environment, share and collaborate effectively with others
• Self-motivation: a self-motivated individual who is detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and capable of creative problem-solving
• Communication and interpersonal skills: verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with good interpersonal skills and the ability to read and interpret legislation
• The successful candidate requires fluency in English, in addition to French as they will be required to support or collaborate with English-speaking clients, colleagues and/or stakeholders during their employment with PwC Canada

The salary range for this position is $58,400 - $97,500. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for PwC locations in major city centres. Given our national recruiting approach, ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At PwC Canada, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may have opportunities to participate in variable incentive pay programs which are designed to reward individual and firm-wide achievements. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and adhere to all relevant pay transparency legislation.
