Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Total Rewards and Governance, this Vice President Human Resources is a senior leader accountable for the enterprise-wide Compensation Advisory strategy, supporting practices, and processes.

This role is a vital member of the Total Rewards Leadership Team with responsibilities including:
  • overseeing a team of high-performing compensation specialists who act as trusted advisors across each line of business
  • establishing incentive plan governance principles and standards, and leading business specific incentive plan design across the bank
  • leading all aspects of compensation delivery (technology, process, global mobility)
  • overseeing Human Resources Mergers and Acquisition activity

As a key partner, this VP Human Resources collaborates closely with business leaders, other total rewards leaders, and enterprise HR groups to develop and execute compensation guidance, programs, and initiatives that align with business objectives.

The general accountabilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:
  • Responsible for the performance and results of the Compensation Advisory and Compensation Effectiveness and Delivery teams, leading a direct report team of Associate Vice Presidents and Senior Managers
  • Demonstrate success with deep subject matter expertise in the development, design, redesign, and execution of compensation and incentive plans, programs, and governance
  • Provide expertise and trusted counsel to business leaders and HR business partners on all compensation matters, effectively applying and tailoring enterprise standards as appropriate
  • Develop incentive plan governance principles, standards and supporting practices, aligning with regulatory expectations and supporting achievement of business objectives
  • Direct the design and development of the Bank's business specific incentive plans, including capital markets and sales incentive / commission plans.
  • Report and share market & data trends, developments & insights to support market competitive pay and to identify and evaluate opportunities to improve effectiveness, efficiency & cost savings
  • Direct the design and execution of efficient and effective compensation processes, including year-end decision making and incentive plan administration
  • Work closely with Platforms and Technology and HR Shared Services partners to design, implement and optimize technology used to enable compensation processes
  • Oversee the design and administration of a comprehensive global mobility program
  • Oversee HR M&A strategy and execution, including HR due diligence and relevant cost modeling
  • Contribute to the Total Rewards vision, strategy and long-term planning activities, and translate short- and medium-term business and functional strategies into Compensation Advisory operating plans
  • Establish and uphold controls to identify & mitigate risks

Key Qualifications & Capabilities
  • University degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or Business Administration
  • 10-15 years of experience in Human Resources, Compensation, and Total Rewards with a deep understanding of multiple disciplines
  • Proven leadership in large change programs and processes in partnership with the business, demonstrating the ability to innovate, simplify, and act as a catalyst for change
  • Proven ability in developing and deploying a vision and aligning others to that vision
  • Previous experience developing and executing strategies and delivering superior results in both the short- and long-term
  • Strong people management skills with proven ability to attract top talent and a relentless commitment to development of all team members
  • Comfortable operating in a complex, globally matrixed organization
  • A powerful communicator who engages colleagues, business partners & external stakeholders
  • Confident presentation skills and strong interpersonal skills, including high EQ and emotional maturity, to facilitate working with senior management at all levels
  • Demonstrated relationship-building skills with a superior ability to deliver results with a commitment to operational and service excellence using positive impact and influence
  • Negotiation and partnership skills to balance stakeholder input while remaining objective to reaching the right outcome
  • Highly developed critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Robust organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and successfully leading a team managing multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Excellent analytical skills in assessing risk, issues and challenging the status quo
