Through this business unit you will gain exposure to a wide range of customer telecommunication products & services.
TELUS is currently looking for the best and brightest university students to join our exciting and rigorous student/co-op program. This is an excellent way for you & TELUS to explore long-term fit for our permanent positions as a new grad.
Your Winter 2019 Student/Co-op program is an exciting and rigorous 8, 12 or 16 months (preferred) program available to both undergraduate & recent graduate students. Several roles are available in various locations nationally (see descriptions below). The Broadband Networks business unit is on a mission to ensure speed & capacity for generations to come, and to create the foundation for access to future solutions like the connected home, smart cities, and TELUS Health applications.
The team enables innovation in the delivery of education, healthcare solutions, and consumer and business products & services through planning & engineering of the outside plant infrastructure for TELUS' fibre footprint across British Columbia (BC), Alberta (AB), and Quebec (QC).Here's how
•Interlock & collaborate with internal stakeholder teams such as Standards, Marketing, Project Management, Engineering Design, and Build for community selection, planning, & implementation
•Develop tactical plans to provide fibre expansion builds for selected communities
•Identify unit cost efficiencies for materials and labor for projects
•Work with developers and build partners to maximize build efficiency
•Perform audits for records accuracy
•Drive process improvements and participate in workshops to generate new ideas
•Gain knowledge of telecommunications networks & fibre footprint capacity
•Learn key systems: MyWorld, Spatial Net, Jira, Domo, Netcracker, Circuit Vision, FIFA, SAP, used extensively throughout the Broadband Networks area in TELUS
•Receive job shadowing/mentoring with established senior networking planners
•Foster contacts with teams downstream and upstream of the Broadband Implementation - Networks Planning & Engineering teamsQualifications:You're the missing piece of the puzzle
•Effective oral & written communication skills
•Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Office & Google Suite
•Capable of working in a team environment and collaborating with others on projects
•Self-starter & independent when provided direction
•Openness to creativity and innovation as an approach to improve the status quo for processes & systems
•Demonstrated ability to produce work based on application of sound economic analysis & adherence to guidelines established by network standards
•Proven track record with planning & organizing to meet scheduled deadlines and cost constraints
•Capable of following municipal and civil policies and procedures with developers & vendors Great-to-haves
•Fluency in French, verbal & written skills
•Engineering, Computer Science, or Telecommunications background
