In our Sustainability and Climate Change practice, within our Risk Assurance Services, we work with some of the world's largest and most complex companies to understand their unique business issues and opportunities in an ever-changing environment. We help create sustainable change by stimulating innovation, unlocking data possibilities, navigating risk and regulatory complexity, optimizing deals, and aligning costs with business strategy to create a competitive advantage.\nSustainability and climate change are at the top of the agenda for many organizations, but many are at different stages in understanding how they should respond. As part of our team, you'll help our clients balance competing economic, social, and environmental goals. We offer services to both public and private sector clients across a range of specialist subject areas. Our established team includes economists, natural scientists, engineers, finance, and accounting professionals - working with some of the world's leading organizations towards an economy with purpose.\nIn this role you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge of and passion for one or more of the following areas:\n•\tClimate strategy, including physical and transition climate risk/opportunity and climate resilience\n•\tDecarbonization, including net zero strategies and emissions inventories (Scope 1, 2 and 3), target setting, and carbon pricing\n•\tESG Strategy, including materiality assessments and build awareness/capacity with our clients\n•\tSustainable finance, including applying ESG frameworks to investing and asset management
What to consider before applying

•This role has the option of being based out of our Toronto or Montreal offices
•This role doesn't support completion of the Canadian CPA designation
• This role requires the candidate to be fluent in French and English if based in Montreal ; non-Quebec offices: Fluent in French, English would be an asset

Purpose-led work you'll be part of

As a Senior Associate, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution . Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Can work with Canada's biggest investors, companies, governments, and NGOs on their ESG and climate change journeys
• Learn from leading Canadian and global professionals in ESG and climate change.
• Gain experience across a range sectors including financial services, telecommunications, energy, mining, industry, public sector, infrastructure, etc., and over time develop a focus in one or more of these
• Contribute effectively to complex, multi-disciplinary projects - often supporting several projects at a time
• Continue to develop your technical understanding of ESG or climate change and how it applies to business, investment, and government decision making; and support internal and external thought leadership on specialist issues within ESG and climate change
• Be supported by a team of climate change and sustainability experts
• Support technical projects in areas such as climate scenario analysis projects
• Support clients and PwC colleagues to build their capacity in climate change
• Manage client consulting engagements over their life cycle
• Contribute to proposals and other business development activities

Experiences and skills you'll use to solve

• Demonstrated knowledge of one or more of: climate risk/resilience, climate scenario analysis, climate impact assessment, climate science, sustainable finance, the GHG protocol, life cycle assessments, ESG strategy, or SASB
• Advanced understand of Excel, and well as visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or Alteryx, and programming languages such as Python
• Experience or education in climate change, such as climate risk or scenario analysis, corporate inventories, decarbonization plans, and/or life cycle assessments
• A background in one or more of climate science, climate finance, engineering, financial analysis, economics, natural resources, or nature/biodiversity.
• Commercial acumen and strong program and project management skills
• Critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to lead and work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams
• Exceptional commitment to providing excellent client service, by building and maintaining productive relationships with both internal and external clients
• Strong personal initiative, agility, and resourcefulness
• Fluent in French and English for the Montreal office; non-Quebec offices: Fluent in French, English would be an asset
• A demonstrated commitment to valuing differences and working alongside diverse people and perspectives
