Position Overview:
    • Conducts security reviews (systems, projects, mergers, acquisitions), evaluations and risk assessments and develops recommendations for improvements as appropriate • Conducts compliance checks and security investigations to resolve security anomalies • Evaluates and designs security and controls for new technologies to address such areas as infrastructure, security administration, user identification, and data identification, authentication and access, provides supervision and issues reports • Provides law enforcement and internal security systems support as required • Manages and plans information protection initiatives and projects • Acts as a subject-matter expert on all information security issues

Responsibilities:
    • Plans, researches and designs information security programs, techniques, policies and procedures • Acts as an expert information source in the field of information security • Oversees compliance via both physical review and technology • Conducts security reviews (systems, projects, mergers, acquisitions), evaluations and risk assessments and develops recommendations for improvements as appropriate • Conducts compliance checks and security investigations to resolve security anomalies • Evaluates and designs security and controls for new technologies to address such areas as infrastructure, security administration, user identification, and data identification, authentication and access, provides supervision and issues reports • Is accountable for the development of information protection policies, procedures, strategies and architectures to define and support TELUS' information protection program • Develops and presents ongoing security awareness programs • Manages, maintains and supports security system infrastructure


Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities & Experience:
    • College diploma in computer science or a related discipline • A university degree is an asset • Strong ability to draft simple and complex documents • Good analytical skills • Interpersonal skills, geared toward consulting • Ability to work independently, but also engage effectively in a team environment • Information security certification, such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, ISO 27001 or GIAC is an asset • Minimum of 10 years of experience in information technology • 4-5 years of experience in information security • Minimum of 2 years of experience in consulting
