Help us delivering the LTE and 5G network capacity needed to support our customers increasing demand for wireless service by blending wireless engineering, data analytics and software development. Our team is responsible for the capacity planning and engineering of TELUS' wireless network driving yearly investment of several hundred million dollars. This includes a broad range of planning and engineering activities, from projects that guide executive strategy to implementing network augments that support customer traffic at special events (e.g. New Year's Eve celebrations).

As a RAN Capacity Engineer, you'll provide technical leadership to ensure we efficiently deploy network capacity to meet the increasing demand for wireless services. Your efforts will ensure that our 9 million customers are able to enjoy a world class wireless network experience.

Your creativity coupled with strong RF engineering and computer science skills will allow us to find the best ways of building our wireless network to support existing mobility services and offer new services. Finally, together as a team, we will help shape the future vision of TELUS' wireless network by providing important guidance to executives on how best to address our evolving business challenges.

Here's how
    •By using radio frequency propagation modelling, you will develop novel techniques to simulate wireless capacity, including developing models for 5G and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies •By developing software, you will automate complex wireless network models to run simulations and create capacity plans •By applying your knowledge in data science, such as big data analysis, to improve the efficiency of our capacity plans •By collaborating with other teams like Technology Strategy and Product Development to understand new technologies and services to prepare our team to succeed in an evolving business environment •By leading the implementation of wireless capacity augments, you will build working processes with performance and construction teams to drive improvements in customer experience •By developing dashboards and data visualizations you will provide insight into network capacity that can be shared with executives, peer groups and tools that are implemented in customer portals •By monitoring network performance and using machine learning techniques, you will identify actual and predict future capacity issues in the network •By applying your knowledge of geographic information system (GIS) technology


You're the missing piece of the puzzle
    •Bachelor degree in Engineering or Computer Science •5+ years of experience with 3GPP technologies (5G/LTE/UMTS/HSPA), radio access network design, optimization and capacity engineering •3+ years with LTE and 5G RAN capacity planning •3+ years of software development experience •Strong problem solving, analytical and mathematical skills •Passion for automation, data science and machine learning •Understanding of databases and big data, including: MySQL, NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB), Splunk and Hadoop •Experience with Python and the following libraries: Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-learn •Some experience with machine learning techniques such as: Time Series Prediction, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting and Deep Learning •Basic understanding of GIS technology (e.g. MapInfo, ArcGIS)

    •Master degree in Engineering or Computer Science •Experience with data analytic and visualization tools such as: Tableau, Alteryx, Splunk •Experience deploying Node.js app, micro services, or distributed systems
