The RAN Planning and GIS team are a group of talented engineers and business analysts whom have a passion for developing and instigating wireless strategy across multiple engineering, implementation and business units. This team is responsible for aligning budgets, organising work flow and clearing road blocks amongst numerous partners to ensure the successful planning and rollout of wireless build programs, nationally. Overseeing a broad range of investment drives, this team also leverages big data analytics and geospatial analysis to refine business cases to bring forward new wireless build program investments across Canada.

As the leader of our RAN Planning and GIS team, you'll provide both technical and people leadership to improve business intelligence, build succinct and persuasive messaging for capital projects and, most importantly, foster relationships with multiple business units to ensure a smooth, timely deliver of wireless build programs.

You will leverage your deep technical knowledge of LTE and 5G technologies with your entrepreneurial spirit to take calculated risks and drive the continued transformation of our team through the use of automation and data science. Your natural ability to lead, your competitive spirit, your passion for innovation, and your strong RF engineering background will allow us to find the best ways of building our wireless network to support existing mobility services and offer new services. Finally, together as a team, we will help shape the future vision of TELUS' wireless network by providing important guidance to Executives on how to best address our evolving business challenges. You and your team's efforts will ensure that our millions of customers are able to enjoy a world class wireless network experience.

    •Provide leadership and support to the RAN Planning and GIS team so they can continue to build on their technical and automation capabilities •Ensure strong team engagement and enhance a sense of close connection regardless of geography •Facilitate ongoing learning and development in the latest wireless network technologies and best practices •Provide ongoing informal and formal coaching and face-to-face meetings •Cultivate strong, collaborative partnerships with other leaders, including technology development, RF engineering, wireless real estate acquisition teams, wireless implementation teams, wireless sales and marketing teams •Challenge, inspire, and motivate team members towards continued improvements, skills development and technical innovations by leveraging automation and data science techniques •Continue to push the status quo: integrate, implement and improve on current network tools/technologies

    •Known as an inspiring leader who coaches and develops team members, cultivating a highly engaged and high performance team •Noted for your expertise in 3GPP (5G/LTE/UMTS/HSPA) radio access network design, optimization and capacity engineering •Regarded as a strategic and tactical planner that build winning short and long term execution plans •Regarded as an exceptional communicator, influencer and negotiator, able to build and maintain strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders •Recognized as having strong business and financial acumen who drives innovation, change and process improvements •Respected for your track record of operational execution and delivery excellence and achieving results in a complex environment •Noted for your strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and poise when faced with difficult challenges •Proven negotiation skills to influence other teams and network vendors •Mastery in being able to craft stories that turn complex ideas into simple concepts •Respected for your courage to take risks, lead innovation and explore unchartered territory within the technology and telecommunications space •Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering
    •MBA or Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering •10 years of experience as part of a wireless RAN networking engineering team •5 years of experience with active participation in complex project strategy and execution •Experience in the end to end wireless network build cycle •Clearly demonstrate the individual ability to work in a multi-team environment
