T he Insurance Analytics and Modelling team provides analytics and predictive models driven advice and counselling service to internal stakeholders, thereby enabling colleagues to have the right information to make business decisions impacting different stages of the insurance cycle and to improve customer journey.

About this role

Reporting to the Manager of the Geospatial Analytics & External Relationships, the Geospatial Scientist will be responsible to perform technical development of certain peril models, to support efforts to maintain existing models in place. The candidate will need to understand geospatial distribution of TDI's portfolio and geospatial profitability drivers, as well as accumulation to catastrophe prone areas. Understand the application and business implications of the use of statistical and geographic information system (GIS) software. Acts as primary interface by leading the interpretation and analyzing of customer data, census data, different segmentation systems to better understand who our customers are. Develop executive ready GIS reports and live maps/dashboards leveraging existing metrics into the organization that provide actionable insights to partners.

As a Geospatial Scientist you will:

-Continuously deepen knowledge of insurance industry practices across multiple disciplines.
-Work closely with business owners to identify opportunities to innovate and serve as an ambassador for geospatial data science solutions
-Possess the ability to synthesize large amounts of complex data into key and concise messages for the senior leadership team
-Works efficiently and has solid organizational skills/time management, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities/initiatives
-Capture and analyze information or data on current and future trends
-Ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest
-Will manage and prioritize multiple projects at a given time
-Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business
-Analytical thought leadership and stay current on developments in geospatial analytics approaches

What can you bring to TD? Tell us about your most relevant experience, credentials and knowledge for this role, as well as these essential requirements and attributes:

-5 or more years of relevant experience required, some insurance experience preferred
-Undergraduate degree required
-Statistics, GIS, Urban Planning, Computer science, Actuarial Science
-Advanced knowledge and user of GIS (Geospatial Information Systems)
-Excellent communication skills, highly adaptable to different stakeholders
-Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
