The TELUS Professional Services group is seeking a Financial Analyst III for a strategic client in the insurance industry. The successful candidate's main mission will be to build the future of our client's Finance & Accounting department, ensuring the team's activities are in line with regulatory requirements for the insurance industry as well as with service-level agreements (SLAs).Here's how
•Analyze financial results in support of effective business decisions; establish and monitor budgets
•Analyze business risk and impacts, requiring sound judgment and thorough understanding of business and process implications; solid understanding of international financial standards and aptitude for identifying issues; communicate financial implications of business decisions to non-financial teams
•Produce and communicate financial reports; communicate financial concepts to non-financial teams
•Execute control procedures; analyze issues with limited advice or direction and provide recommendations to executives
•Develop key performance indicator to support strategic initiatives
•Advise key stakeholders with respect to compliance matters; identify potential risks and mitigation measures
•Analyze requirements of laws and regulations in insurance by reviewing regulatory bulletins and other sources of information from the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions and from insurance councils
•Maintain complete documentation in support of finance & accounting processes
•Optimize compliance and reputation of the organization
•Develop effective business relationships with peers and the client; act as a trusted advisor Qualifications:You're the missing piece of the puzzle
•Knowledge and experience with accounting principles & practices
•Knowledge of forecasting and budgeting principles & practices
•Knowledge of regulatory processes
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Solid critical thinking and problem solving skills
•Effective negotiation skills
•Excellence in customer service; tact and diplomacy
•Microsoft (MS) Office knowledge, especially thorough to expert knowledge of advanced MS Excel features
•Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm) degree with accounting option, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
•Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation completed or in progress of completing the designation Great-to-have
