Are you ready to be part of the Artificial Intelligence revolution in Telecommunication?

Join our team

Join a team that is in the heart of the revolution in telecommunications. Help us rethink how we forecast our wireless network improvements by blending wireless engineering, data analytics and machine learning. At TELUS, with over 9 million subscribers, there's a lot of data being generated from our network, and with this lies untapped potential for data mining and advanced insights towards improving our customers' wireless experience.

Our team is responsible for the capacity planning and engineering of TELUS' wireless network driving yearly investment of several hundred million dollars. This includes a broad range of planning and engineering activities, from projects that guide executive strategy to implementing network augments that support customer traffic at special events (e.g. New Year's Eve celebrations).

Radio Access Network (RAN) Capacity planning and engineering is an exciting role at TELUS! With the increasing complexity of radio systems and the advent of 5G wireless technology you will have the opportunity not only to master new technologies, but also apply modern engineering best practices, including automation and machine learning, to build a wireless network that delivers the best in class customer experience.

Here's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish together

As a RAN Capacity Data Scientist, you will provide leadership to ensure we efficiently forecast and deploy network capacity to meet the increasing demand for wireless service. Your efforts will ensure that our millions of customers are able to enjoy a world class wireless network experience. Your creativity coupled with strong data and computer science experience will allow us to find the best ways of building our wireless network to support existing mobility services and offer new services.

Finally, together as a team, we will help shape the future vision of TELUS' wireless network by providing important guidance to executives on how best to address our evolving business challenges.

Here's how
•By applying your data science and your wireless technology knowledge to develop novel techniques to simulate wireless capacity, including developing models for 5G and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies •By applying your software development skills to automate complex wireless network models to run simulations and create multi-year capacity plans •By applying your data analytics skills in order to perform proof of concepts/prototyping and gain insights from the data via machine learning, computational statistical analysis, etc •By applying your data presentation skills in order to make insights available in meaningful ways to key stakeholders via API, Tableau, web apps, etc •By collaborating with other teams like Technology Strategy and Product Development to understand new technologies and services to prepare our team to succeed in an evolving business environment •By leady the implementation of wireless capacity augments, you will build working processes with performance and construction teams to drive improvements in customer experience •By developing dashboards and data visualizations you will provide insight into network capacity that can be shared with executives, peer groups and tools that are implemented in customer portals •By monitoring network performance and using machine learning techniques, you will identify actual and predict future capacity issues in the network •By providing expertise in data science best practices, insights & guidelines to promote sustainable innovation; keep up-to-date with data science and wireless technologies
