As a member of the Evolving Radio Access Network (RAN) Optimization (ERO) team, join our innovation journey in leveraging data science techniques to help Radio Frequency (RF) engineers optimize TELUS' wireless network, as we ready ourselves for an exciting and new 5G network. You'll join the larger Broadband Networks Engineering (BNE) team that is providing TELUS customers with the most reliable network and the best user experience in every region of the country.

Approach wireless network data as a big data problem and create solutions employing new angles and methods. Create wireless optimization models, platforms and insights for the engineering stakeholders. Bring the science of optimizing a wireless network to new levels.

Join the data science revolution early on within the wireless engineering group as we continue to unleash the power of a smart data strategy to provide actionable engineering insights. Leap frog your existing knowledge base in computational analysis by directly applying those concepts towards the wireless industry.

Here's how
    •Apply your data exploration and manipulation skills to store wireless network data into a useful layout via extract, transform and load (ETL), map-reduce, cleanse, feature engineer, etc.; implement data collection, and storage architectures to support our big data initiatives & data-driven insights •Apply your data analytics skills in order to perform proof of concepts/prototyping and gain insights from the data via machine learning, computational statistical analysis, etc •Apply your data presentation skills in order to make insights available in meaningful ways to key stakeholders via API, Tableau, web apps, etc.; understand RF engineering requirements and provide data analytics and web applications to support their work •Provide expertise in software engineering best practices, insights & guidelines to promote sustainable innovation; keep up-to-date with data science and wireless technologies


You're the missing piece of the puzzle
    •Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Engineering •3+ years of software development experience •Strong problem solving, analytical & mathematical skills •Passion for automation, data science & machine learning •Strong experience with database design & development: MySQL, Structured Query Language (SQL) server, Oracle, Hadoop, Splunk, Alteryx, Tableau •Strong experience with some of the following languages: C++, Java, SQL, Python, R, Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Extensible Markup Language (XML) & JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) •Experience with JavaScript frameworks like JQuery, AngularJS, React or others

    •Master degree in Computer Science or Engineering •Full stack software development experience •2+ years of experience in the telecommunications industry for basic understanding of wireless network key performance indicators (KPIs), mobile telecommunications technologies, HSPA/LTE/5G
