Job Summary

The Team
The Permitting Transformation Division's Authorizations Northeast and Cariboo teams are established groups of about 25 dedicated professionals, combining administrative, technical, and professional staff who manage land and water resources. Working closely with Directors, Managers, Section Heads, FrontCounter BC, Lands and Water technical and administrative staff, as well as First Nations Relations teams, these teams play a vital role in natural resource decision-making. Known for their passion, dedication, and strong work ethic, they foster an environment of learning and collaboration while truly enjoying their work and each other's company.

The Role
As Program Assistant, you will provide a variety of administrative, secretarial, and financial support services for the Authorizations Northeast and Cariboo regions, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of teams managing critical permitting decisions and drought/flood responses. You may also help coordinate priorities for the Directors, serving as a liaison with ministry executive offices. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into government decision-making processes, with excellent potential for growth and collaboration. Joining this highly functional team will give you a chance to contribute meaningfully to the work that directly impacts BC citizens and communities.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary School graduation (Dogwood, GED) and 6 months related experience; OR
  • Evergreen Certificate and 1-year related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related experience includes the following:
  • Experience working in an office setting.
  • Experience using MS Office software including Teams, Notebook, Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Experience using database applications requiring speed and a high degree of accuracy for data entry.
