The Opportunity

EY Orenda Corporate Finance Inc. is a specialty practice within EY's Transaction Advisory Services. We provide sector-specific advice on mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; debt and equity capital markets; real estate and infrastructure transactions; and advise on corporate strategy. We bring deep industry knowledge to each transaction to support our clients' corporate finance strategies and priorities. We are part of the EY global network, which provides us with direct insights and access to entrepreneurs, companies, private equity firms, capital providers and public sector entities operating around the world. We are a growing practice that has the resources to serve any client, anywhere in the world. EY has the largest integrated real estate practice of any accounting firm. With 5,000 professionals around the world, our global network provides audit, tax and transaction advisory services to real estate owners, investors, lenders and users - including many REIT's, homebuilders and developers. Our unique approach combines entrepreneurial thinking and a working knowledge of real estate issues with broad real estate experience, vast resources and a diverse network of clients and contacts. We serve more than 4,000 real estate clients across the country and throughout the world.

Our Transaction Real Estate practice in Canada is part of a team of 500 dedicated real estate transaction professionals located around the globe. These professionals help plan, execute and integrate their clients' transactions strategy effectively, both domestically and across global markets.

Your Key Responsibilities
    •Participating in the development of public and private sector real estate strategies and portfolio plans. •Development and maintenance of financial models. •Valuation of various types of real estate assets and portfolios in support of various types of engagements including core valuation, due-diligence and transactions. •Synthesize market information to be used in valuation, appraisals, competitive analysis, industry analysis, negotiation support and various other applications. •Compiling and analyzing relevant company and industry information, originating from a broad variety of sources (such as financial databases, industry publications, financial statements and public disclosures) •Assist in real estate due diligence for buy-side or sell-side transactions. •Continuous review of Canadian real estate market trends. •Support the team in the preparation of both internal and external presentations. •Support the team in business development and marketing initiatives across the country.

To qualify for the role you must have:
    •Ideally 2-4 years of work experience with a minimum 1-2 years of experience in real estate. •Undergraduate degree (preferably with a focus on finance or real estate). •Willingness to work towards a CBV, AACI, or CFA designation. •An understanding of the commercial real estate industry in Canada. •Understanding of key real estate value drivers, risks and opportunities. •Strong project management skills. •Strong computer and financial modeling skills. •Ability to systematically manage a heavy work load and meet stringent deadlines. •Flexibility to work irregular or extended hours •Solid technology skills with robust knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint. •Ability to work in a team environment. •Knowledge or interest in real estate processes, operations, and/or asset management would be strongly preferred. •Keen interest in working with both public and private sector clients would be strongly preferred. •Bilingual (French and English)

The successful candidate for this position will have strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills, superior analytical skills, demonstrated project and/or people management skills and have been recognized for their participatory attitude and high levels of creative energy and enthusiasm. An ability to work is both English and French is a requirement for this position.
