  1. How do I apply to jobs?
    To apply to jobs, first click here to create a job seeker account. After creating an account, you will be sent to your account centre where you can create a resume. Once your resume is complete, browse through the job listings and click "Apply" for the ones that interest you.

  2. Do I have to create a job seeker account to apply to jobs?
    We recommend that you create a job seeker account and create an online resume. This way, employers will receive resumes that have been formatted for their best possible viewing. In addition, you can make your resume searchable so that employers searching for candidates can find you. However, it is not mandatory that you create an account. If an employer has shown his or her contact information in the job description, you may contact the employer directly.

  3. I forgot my username and/or password. How can I retrieve it?
    To retrieve your username and password, click here and enter your email address. The username and password will automatically be emailed to you.

  4. How do I get the best results through QCjobcentre.ca?
    First, it is important to actively seek and apply to jobs that are suited to your qualifications. We also strongly recommend that you create and activate an online resume, as many employers select possible candidates by searching and viewing QCjobcentre.ca's resume database.

  5. What is a confidential resume?
    A confidential resume allows you to post a resume without disclosing the following:
    - personal information (name, address, email address, phone number)
    - present employer's company name
    - references
    Please note that when you use your confidential resume to actively apply to jobs, all the information listed above will be disclosed.

  6. How will employers contact me if I post my resume online, but my resume security is set to 'confidential'?
    If your resume security is set to 'confidential', employers can only contact you through QCjobcentre.ca. Employers will fill out a form and an email will automatically be sent to you. Your personal information will never be disclosed to the employer.

  7. What is an 'Saved Search'?
    When you search for jobs on QCjobcentre.ca you can use certain search criteria such as: keywords, freshness, location, categories, employer type, job type. Once you have done this search once, QCjobcentre.ca gives you the option of saving that search so that you can run it again with the click of a button. It also gives you the option of having those jobs that match your saved search e-mailed to you daily, weekly or bi-weekly.

  8. I have not received any email notifications, even though I enabled emails from my saved searches. What's wrong?
    You will only receive email notifications when there are new jobs that match your criteria. If you have not received any email notifications for an extended period, please check the keywords that you have entered and ensure that your spelling is correct. For example, entering "managger" in the keyword field will not match any jobs, as the word is spelt incorrectly. In addition, excessive use of the word "and" in the keyword field will decrease the probability of a match. For example, entering 'programmer and painter and reporter' will likely never match any jobs.

  9. How do I avoid applying to false job advertisements?
    Regrettably, from time to time, false job postings are listed online and used to illegally collect personal information from job seekers. The posting of false job advertisements may be a criminal violation of federal and/or provincial law.

    QCjobcentre.ca is dedicated to stopping this abuse and providing the safest possible environment for you to search and apply to jobs and manage your career.

    Here are some important tips to use when dealing with prospective employers:
    • Do not give your social insurance number, even if they suggest that it is for a "routine background check."
    • Do not provide credit card or bank numbers or engage in any monetary transactions.
    • Do not provide any non-work-related personal information (i.e. social insurance number, eye color, marital status, etc.) over the phone or online or by any other means.
    • Be cautious when dealing with contacts outside of your own country.
    • Look at the company website. Websites with only an email address listed are probably not real companies
    • Be cautious of any employer offering employment without an interview (either in person or by phone).
    • Use a search engine and search the company name
    If you see a questionable job posting or site activity on our site, please report the suspected fraud to QCjobcentre.ca at reportfraud@qcjobcentre.ca

    If you think you have been a victim of fraud, immediately report the committed fraud to your local police and contact QCjobcentre.ca at reportfraud@qcjobcentre.ca , so steps can be taken to manage your safety.
